Our Annual Family Beach Picture~May 2007

Sunny South Carolina

We just returned from a much needed vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was gorgeous! Although truthfully, with 3 toddlers with varying special needs, it was more work than usual....but I'll take more work than usual at Myrtle Beach anytime! LOL!

This was Gabriella's first taste of the beach life and she took to it swimmingly. She gets that from her momma!! LOL! Kyalynn woke up every morning saying "beach" or "swim". When we were on the beach she was in the water most of the time. Forget building sand castles....this girl was here to swim! Connor liked both the water and the sand but preferred swimming in the pool where he could go underwater and open his eyes. He holds his breath and has pretty much taught himself how to swim! He told us he was a humpback whale as he put his head under again and again and again. Zachary and Ryan took advantage of all the extras...the exercise room, the indoor pool, the outdoor pool, the Lazy River, the game room,…

Don't you just love spring?! Well spring has finally sprung in our neck of the woods. We live at the top of a mountain and so we seem to get winter earlier and spring later than most folks. It truly is amazing how it can be snowing at our home on top the mountain but it's not doing anything at the bottom! My daffodils are just done blooming and my hostas are just beginning. Of course, flowers don't last long up here anyway when you have 3 curious toddlers plucking the blooms off. LOL!

I love to sit on my front porch and swing and listen to the birds chirping happily. My brother (who lives next door) has been seeing lots of wild turkeys behind our homes and actually witnessed one doing a mating dance! Now that's something you don't see too often. LOL!

We've been so privledged to live here and see all of God's beautiful wildlife up close and personal. Sometimes too personal! The past two years we've had rattlesnakes that have come right up to our home. God&…

So cute!

How great is the love the father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God! 1 John 1:3 (NIV)

According to Webster's Dictionary:
lavish - adj. 1.) very generous or liberal in giving or spending, often extravagantly so. 2.) more than enough; very abundant; unstinted. Talk about a visual word! I can just see tons of water running over a dam, or a huge field of beautiful flowers, or receiving bags and bags of clothing for the kids. I love how God knows me and how much I need to "see" things before I "get" them. Lavish is so opposite of my personality. Maybe that's why I am so drawn to this word. God's word is so full of lavishness.... His love for me, His endless forgiveness for my endless sins, His constant blessings that flow over me continually. Oh, I'm so thankful I serve a Lavish God!! May I strive to be lavish with my love, my encouragement, and my praise. More verses that represent God's lavish love; "a good measure, presse…

Quotes of the Day

Connor says today "Mommy, I a bumpback whale." Hmmm, a new breed possibly? Kyalynn says "mommy, wipe, wipe" as she runs into the bathroom, grabs a piece of toilet paper and runs out the back door. Following on her heels, I find the culprit....a wasp making a nest in her little playhouse. So she wanted me to wipe it away, which I promptly did to her clapping and "thank you mommy!" Gabriella's new words for today is "uh-oh" and "poptart". Now if we could just get her to eat a poptart!

Mountaintop Experiences

Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:18 (The Message)

Mountaintop experiences....ever had any? Oh, how glorious, exciting and joyful they are! They are the highest high. Wouldn't it be great to live on the mountaintop? Nope! It's the valleys, the lowest lows, where our characters are formed and we become more Christlike. It's when we think we can't make it one more step, when the burdens we are carrying feel like they are going to crush us, when we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, these are the times we truly "become". When we are at our weakest and we reach out our hand or just cry out in pain, God meets us there and He takes over. He becomes our strength, our burden lifter, the One who carries us, and our light amidst the darkness. Even though valleys are painful, the journey thru them is imperative to strenthen our feeble faith…

A Little History

Our family has grown significantly in the last three years. In the beginning it was just Sean, our two sons and I. Then God moved our hearts towards adoption and we expanded by one beautiful Korean princess. We thought a daughter would be the completion of our family but adopting only opened our eyes and hearts to all the precious waiting children. So, we heard God calling again and answered by adopting our Korean Prince. What a delight he is! Then, one more time, we tentatively walked that path again, to bring home our last little daughter, another beautiful princess. So we have 3 toddlers and 2 teenagers at this point and life is chaotic, busy, and full of love, laughter and God's fingerprints!
