Are You .....?

A God chaser? "God chasers have a lot in common. Primarily, they are not interested in camping out on some dusty truth known to everyone. They are after the fresh presence of the Almighty. If you're a God chaser, you won't be happy to simply follow God's tracks. You will follow them until you apprehend His presence. If you are weary with stagnation, overcome with frustration, loving God but loathing how He has been portrayed, then pursue Him until you know Him. God chasers don't want to just study from the moldy pages of what God has done; they're anxious to see what God is doing. All I can say is, I'm a God chaser. Are you one? Do you crave God encounters?"
~From the book Extreme GodChasers by Tommy Tenney~ I bought this book for the older boys to read for school last year and just came across it on the bookshelf. Wow! This book excites my spirit like nothing else has in quite some time. I absolutely love to hear and read about the power of God, how He…

A Mystery At Work....

"There is a mystery at work here, and if we are not careful, we will miss it. If we will grasp hold of the truth that this road we are walking on is a broken place, a detour on the way to where our real lives begin, we might begin to see one another differently. God has wrapped some of his most amazing people in unusual packages, and I urge you not to miss one of them. Some of us are fat or thin; some tall or short; some physically, mentally, or emotionally handicapped; but we are all challenged in one way or another. And we are a family, a community. As long as we are on this path, it is our joy and strength to hold on to one another, pray for each other, and sing our hearts out whether we are in tune or not!"

Our School Days...

I'm pretty pleased with what the little's have accomplished so far this year. We have a routine and if I try to change things up just a bit I meet resistance. LOL! We start the morning by each of us picking a picture out of our "prayer basket" and then praying for this person. Then we read from their Bible, and a missionary storybook. Then we review the ABC's, the sounds of the letters, months of the year, days of the week, all their bible verses, the shapes, the colors, the 5 senses, the planets, the food pyramid, basic addition, words that they've learned, the Pledge of Allegiance, their phone number, naming the states we've learned so far (they are up to 15!) and the 7 continents and 4 oceans of the world! Then we do a weather chart and are working on writing numbers to 100. Most of this stuff "sticks" because I try to put it all to music. They don't know it all perfectly but the more we sing it the more they remember it. This "syste…

What I've Been Meditating On....

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head, Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. 1st Corinthians 13:4-7 (The Message) These verses speak to my heart so deeply....oh my! There have been many, many times I've wanted to give up. Too many times than I care to admit I have been self-focused not others focused. And I know this is going to be hard for you to believe but um....I've been known to "fly off the handle!" Although I do put up with alot(!) I do ashamedly tell God "ok God, this is it. I can't handle anymore, I don't WANT to put up with anymore.&…

Hall Of Faith...

"The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living." Hebrews 11:1 (The Message)

Blogging has been such a blessing in my life. I have "met" so many like-minded people who have become good friends. These virtual friends have prayed for and encouraged me. Some have blessed us financially and they all have unknowingly taught me more about my God. I love reading about how God is moving in their lives, it boosts my faith to a whole new level. So in honor of these precious friends I give you Lisa's Blogging Hall of Faith. Weakness Or Strength?.....

Something I've been thinking about.....

The world is made up of many kinds of people, some easier to love than others. Some people take alot more of our time and energy and give nothing or very little in return. Some people pull us down into their muck and mire and need us to help them back up. Some people hurt us because they've been hurt themselves.

Should we bother with these people? Should we sacrifice our time, emotions and energy for them? Or should we just look the other way? I've been told to expend my energy and effort on these people is a waste. That I'm weak for allowing people to take up my time with their needs and concerns but I don't see it like that. You see, Jesus Christ was willing to go to the dregs of society. He not only prayed for the lepers, he touched them, hugged them. He reached out to those no one else wanted to be bothered with. Was this weakness? No, it was strength. Strength to give of himself. Strength to love the unlovable. Strength to…

He Done Good.....

Sean totally blew me away for Valentine's! I knew we would be celebrating on Friday night with dinner out, just the two of us. I mean, come on, that's pretty exciting, just the two of us....I'm usually surrounded by little people. LOL! So when we returned to the bottom of our driveway he blindfolded me and continued to drive. I had no idea what he had planned and no one else did either because I asked everyone for details but they had none! LOL! When I finally took off the blindfold I couldn't believe my eyes. We were in a hotel room...the bed covered in chocolates... tables with roses and candles and music. I, of course, said "we can't afford this, what about the kids?" His plan was to allow me to stay in the hotel room for the night alone! Did you hear that?! Alone! He said this way I could finally get a full nights sleep without interruptions. WOW! Now, to many of you this doesn't sound romantic but to a mom of many it sounded heavenly! :) When he …

Thank You!!...

We were so blessed by all the prayers, emails and comments for our sweet Gabriella. She is doing good, thank God! I was able to speak with the nurse at the Specialist office on Friday. She had just received the reports and was concerned with the numbers too so had already spoken with the Doctor. We raised her medicine, again, and go again this week for more bloodwork. We also discussed other possible ways to help Gabriella's medicine maintain at the correct numbers instead of bouncing up and down consistently. This is so hard on her little body. When her numbers are low we raise the medication. Then, most times, the results come back too high and we must lower the medication. If her numbers are too high it can cause kidney issues. Too low and it causes seizures and can be fatal. So.....we continue to pray, every night, for God to completely heal her, but until that time we will trust His sovereign plan in all of this.

I will admit that when I heard the numbers and couldn't rea…

Urgent Prayer Request

We are asking everyone to keep Gabriella in their prayers. We received her bloodwork results this morning and they are very low. Lower than we've ever had. We have a call into her Specialist but she is out of the office until next Wednesday!! So, prayer warriors please pray for God's hand of protection over Gabriella.

Also, please pray for me as I must admit fear really tries to take ahold of my heart when I get results like this. I KNOW God has it all under control but my mommy heart yearns to help Him sometimes. :)

Thank you!!

A Winter Flower...

It's really a weed but to me it's the most beautiful weed ever.
Gabriella was outside playing and found this "flower."
She quickly came to the door and said
"here mommy, for you."
Awww.
So I had to put it in a vase and
I look at it on my windowsill
thanking God for this precious gift of a girl!

Kyalynn's Wild Adventure...

Once upon a time there was a beautiful, Asian princess who thought she was big enough to ride her sled down the snowy hill all by herself. So she grabbed her sled and pulled it to the top of the hill, sat down and proceeded down this hill in a stomach-tickling (alarming!) rate. She managed (only God!) to dodge various large and hard trees and finally stopped by running into a soft pine tree! Daddy, who had no idea Kyalynn was on a wild adventure, decided to look and see where she was and saw her trudging up said hill saying "oh, are you alright?" Sean noticed the sled tracks and put 2 and 2 together and realized what had happened. Where was mommy you ask? Well, she had taken Gabriella for bloodwork and then on to Nolan's doctor appointment. Later when mommy came home she was told this story by her eldest son. Needless to say, mommy's jaw was hanging on the ground and she was in disbelief. LOL! Kyalynn is just fine and I actually think she enjoyed her wild adventure…

Need A Walking Miracle...

On December 29th, Bryan, a friend from the Skatepark, life was changed forever. Someone entered his home and held his fiance at gunpoint. Bryan tried to stop the intruder and was shot in the neck. His spine was severed and Bryan is now paralyzed from the waist down. He was just released yesterday from the hospital. Zack and Bryan skated together often and Zack has always been impressed with Bryan's positive, upbeat personality. Of course, we wondered if his outlook would still be positive considering the traumatic change in his life. This is where it gets GOOD! Bryan has given not only his heart but also his life to Jesus because of this tragedy!! His outlook is still positive and he is motivated. He has set a goal that seems impossible.....to walk again. However, we know that NOTHING is impossible with God! So, please join me in agreeing with Bryan thru prayer that he WILL walk again. If you would like to read his story you can visit his Caring Bridge site here www.caringbridge.o…

What's Love Got To Do With It?!......

Everything!! "If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's word with power, revealing all His mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, jump, and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere.
So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love." 1st Corinthians 13:1-7 (The Message)
