The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground. When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, "choose 12 men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up 12 stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and to carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight." So Joshua called together the 12 men....and said to them, "...Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, "what do these stones mean?" tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God. Joshua 3:17-4:7 and Joshua 4:24
Let me begin this post by saying that I've hesitated to write this. I do not want it to appear as if I am flaunting our blessings or that "things" are important to us. Rest assured we have never been a family that puts much value on things as we prefer to love people, not things. However, I do feel that glory must be given to God and hence why I share the below.
Sean bought a used truck quite a few years ago mainly for the purpose of pulling the work trailer. At that point, Sean was working an out of town job that was 2 1/2 hours away and across several mountains which means windy roads and much pulling. To be honest he should have bought a heavier truck with a stronger engine but we couldn't afford it and so he's made due but it's been very hard on his truck. Many, many expensive repairs later we began looking into the possibility of buying a truck with a engine designed to haul a trailer but the prices of these trucks left us gasping for air. LOL! We've spent hours visiting car lots but knew it was only a dream, there were more important things we had to do with our money, umm, like pay bills. LOL!
Friday afternoon Sean received a call on his cellphone asking him to be at a certain place on Saturday morning. Of course my curious mind couldn't stop asking Sean a million questions about the mysterious phone call but he didn't have any answers. Saturday morning we left Zack in charge of the little's and off we went. As we turned the corner there sat this....
Yeah, we were speechless too. There sat a brand spanking new F350 V-8 Power Stroke Diesel with a King Cab!!!! How we knew it was ours was the graphics that stated Rock Solid Contracting, Inc. The name of our construction company. To say we had no words is an understatement. We just stood there and stared. Thoughts and questions ran through our minds...how can this be?! We don't deserve this. This is unreal. It reminded me of the movie "Facing the Giants" where the coach is given a brand new truck and his assistant coach keeps saying "it's your truck, get in your truck" and the coach is so overcome he doesn't know what to do. When we finally ventured towards the truck, there on the back seat sat a vase of red roses! C'mon people this ONLY happens in the movies...definately not to us. Shock and awe is what we felt and still do! The most amazing thing (well, not to God!) is the fact that it is the EXACT truck of Sean's dreams. Seriously. When we looked at trucks he would always look at the big F-350's but knew it wasn't even a remote possiblity for us. These trucks used are still up in the $30's! But isn't it just like God to give Sean the desires of his heart and to throw in beautiful graphics as well?!
It's amazing to us that God would want to bless us like this. God laid it on someone's heart to bless us and they did! I so want to be a person like this. How awesome to touch people's lives for God's glory! Thank you will never seem enough but we are praying that God will pour into their lives blessings a hundredfold. I know this "God Story" has already bolstered up many people's faith as we tell them. At first everyone can't believe it (just like us!) but then their minds and hearts focus on the truth....God wants to bless us. He has good plans for us. He wants to knock our socks off and do things that put us in shock and awe at His goodness!
This couldn't have come at a more perfect time as the next scheduled job is again out of town. It will be about 2 hours away and guess what?! He will be hauling the trailer over mountains but this time it won't be a problem. Praise God!
We are instructed to remember, to set up a memorial to what God has done in our lives so that all people might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful. I am here to say that God really does want to give us more than we could ever ask or think....just ask my husband, Sean!
