At the Lake...

Picnic with a view...

So...since Sean has been between jobs and is home more now I have been trying to take some days for fun. I had a few ideas of things I wanted to do but couldn't by myself. Having the 5 little ones makes it almost impossible for me to do alot of these things by myself due to safety and my sanity. :) Sean is a good sport and although he had tons of things he had planned to get done around the house he said he would be up for a trip maybe once a week. I wasted no time and threw out ideas to him. He suggested a picnic lunch and a spot with a view. Boy he wasn't kidding! It was absolutely gorgeous and a bit nerve-wracking too trying to keep the little daredevils away from the edge. LOL!  Thanks Sean, you're the BEST!! We love you!!

Let's Rodeo....

There is a wonderful Christian Ranch about an hour and a half from us that offers free Rodeos on certain Saturdays during the summer. We have been blessed to try and get to one every year for many years now. They offer bullriding, barrel racing, steer roping, trick roping, trick riding, bronco busting, clowns and a message.

So we loaded up our little dogies and headed for the Rodeo. Yee haw!! It was extra special this time because it was a full load. Our oldest boys and their girlfriends and my parents went as well. It was Hot, Hot, Hot and poor Nolan and Kyalynn were sweating buckets but they didn't complain. Bless their hearts. :) After the Rodeo they offer a Chuckwagon Supper which we were going to participate in but after sitting in the hot sun for so long we opted for air conditioning and Mickey D's instead. LOL!

The consensus is that bull riding was the favorite of most of us even though no one made it the eight seconds. :( It was a wonderful day filled with fun together…

Please Pray for Jimmy...

My dear blogging friend, Beth, emailed me on Saturday with a request for prayer for her brother who was being whisked away by ambulance to the ER. At that time all we knew was that his blood pressure was sky high. Since then the doctors have found Jimmy had a brain aneurysm which leaked causing a brain hemorrhage. Please take some time today to pray for Jimmy. He needs our prayers!! And please go visit Beth and leave her some bloggy love too. That would be such a blessing to her to know you are praying for her and her brother. Thanks friends!!
This is from Beth's blog this morning.....

My brother, Jimmy, had a brain aneurysm. It leaked, causing bleeding into his brain. He will be in ICU for 10-12 days. Days 3 - 9 are the most critical. Please pray for protection from any blood vessel spasms in the brain, which could cause very serious complications. He will spend at least two weeks in the hospital.

You Can Be Everything God Wants You To Be by Max Lucado

Each person is given something to do that shows who God is.  1st Corinthians 12:7 MSG
Do you believe you were created for a purpose? God made just one version of you. He custom designed you for a one-of-a-kind assignment. When we find our "sweet spot" we will be reflecting beautifully God's splendor and glory. How awesome is that?!
Max Lucado is a word smith. I think I've read every one of his books. His writing draws me in and builds me up. When I finish his books I feel encouraged, blessed and ready to walk my walk faithfully. This book was no different. Although it is just a small gift book (a perfect gift for grads, newly married, anyone!) it packs powerful wisdom.  It reminds me again that our Creator God loves diversity, originality, and joy in our journey! He created us specifically with gifts, talents and abilities to do exactly what He created us to do.

Who Will Go??

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,  "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
Is it you? Will you go? Here is another opportunity to press into God and seek His direction for your life. This precious little boy needs a home, a family, someone committed to loving him forever....is it you??

Nikita is from Latvia and 3 trips are required with both parents being required to go on the first trip.

Nikita is a bright, engaging, affectionate, and delightful child. He is very enthusiastic about life and trying new things. He has been labeled hyperactive, but he is able to sit, play by himself, look at books, etc. He does not appear to us to have ADHD, but he is a very active child with a lot of energy and curiosity. Because of this, he seems to get easily over-stimulated and has some difficulty transitioning from activity to quiet time. It usually takes a long time for him to calm down and get to sleep. He has integrated well into our large family. He has attached well to us …

Homeschooling...

Ah, what a perfect picture of what homeschooling looks like around here.....NOT!! LOL! Zachary snapped this photo and it does look peaceful and organized but let me tell you, right before this Nolan was running through the  room being a firetruck, baby Samuel was screaming his discontent at being on the floor out of momma's arms (how dare I?! LOL!) Kyalynn was singing while I was trying to teach (Kyalynn is ALWAYS singing!) and Connor and Gabriella were fighting over who got to sit in the pink Dora chair.  ACK!! :)

Homeschooling the little's has definitely made me humble. It is so incredibly different than homeschooling Zach and Ryan. Not that it's bad...just different. I am still trying to find a good fit for them and myself. I've tried several different ways of doing things but because of the wide area of levels and abilities nothing has clicked...yet! I just recently came across a blog momma whose ideas have caused creative juices to stir inside me and I've bee…

Tiny Treasures...

Breakthroughs = FREEDOM!!

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favorand the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of HIS splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.

Our Wild Kingdom...

My sweet sister-in-law has taken to calling our home the "Wild Kingdom".  I kind of like it. LOL! Let me explain....
We decided to allow our chickens to be free range and so at any given moment there are 4 chickens walking our grounds around here. Actually, it's crazy, these birds act like dogs! Seriously. They follow us when we go on walks, hang around us when we are outside playing, and have even tried to come inside! LOL!
Then we have 2 rabbits...one all white and one all black. Marshmallow and Chocolate. :) Well, they are free range too. Crazy I know but it works wonderfully for us. They usually hang around in the morning and in the evening chumping the grass as we play outside. They've decided that bunny food isn't as tasty as the chicken feed and so it's not uncommon to see the chickens and the bunnies eating out of the same container at the same time.
Then of course, we have our dog, Mordecai, whose main goal in life is to chase everything. He chases th…

Bees!!!

This past week after sweltering in the heat for many days when the temperature finally hit 102 I decided it was time for some indoor fun. I had this idea brewing in my brain for a couple of days and just decided to do it. We had a Bee party. I printed out some bee pictures, a bee craft, several bee facts and games and set up the snack shack and voila instant party. Then the kids ate lunch, visited the snack shack and watched "Bee Movie". (Well, all except Nolan who was terrified of talking bees. LOL! He stayed in the kitchen with momma.)

Here are my cute little bees. Ok, ok I know some of you more creative moms are like "oh, that's a bee?" Yes, yes it is. :) Once upon a time long, long ago I had alot more creative juices flowing and brewing in this here brain but lately...not so much. I credit lack of sleep and sanity. LOL!

Cut and Dye Job...

Have I ever mentioned how incredibly cheap I am? Or did you just guess it?! LOL! I cut everyone's hair in our family, even the dogs'! After years of cutting our oldest two sons' hair they decided they'd rather pay a barber but now they have their girlfriends cut it, go figure! LOL!
Anyways, after weeks and weeks of asking for a haircut Sean finally bit the bullet and cut it today. He is a FABULOUS hairdresser! I don't trust my hair to just anyone. LOL!

YEAH! I feel like a new person! :)

All-American...

Boys!! Zachary and Nolan hamming it up....

Nolan showing his skills as a fire engine driver....

Our version of a Fourth of July Parade.... Couldn't find any around our area so we threw this one together. LOL! It even had music...everyone was singing "You're a Grand Old Flag". :)

Every year we buy fireworks to shoot off and this year Sean went all out. He bought the super-mega pack and it was spectacular. Well, honestly, they all look the same to me. :) But the kids love it and look forward to it all year. The last firework of the night was too funny. It was loud and impressive and we thought it was over and then boom! it starts its' show all over again. It did that at least 5 times!! It was the firework that never ends! LOL!
Because of the loudness of the fireworks the little's normally wear headgear over their ears but this year was way better. Nolan was SCARED so we ended up inside. Sean arranged seating so they could look right out the french door and see every…

Sam's Story...

It's amazing to me how God is using Samuel in my life. Each child has afforded me the opportunity to lean on Christ more and has also taught me more about myself....some good....some not so good.

Samuel's story is intricate, complicated and full of God's fingerprints!! Not unlike every other adoption and birth story out there. Each child a miracle and perfectly created by a perfect Creator!

His story doesn't start the day we found out about him, or even the day he was born. No, his story starts back in January when God spoke very clearly to my heart that He was bringing us another child. Sean and I had decided after Nolan's adoption that WE WERE DONE!! No more! HA! When people asked us (which was only natural because we had adopted 4 children in 5 years!) when we were adopting again we would laughingly say that if God called us again we would just say no way! Sad, but true. Our hands were full, my plate was overflowing with 3 kids with major needs, an active toddl…

Happy Birthday....With A Twist....

Yesterday was my dad's birthday...Happy Birthday Dad!!
My parents went away for the weekend to celebrate his birthday and the little's and I decided to show him some love by decorating his house with birthday banners. The decorating was going well and Kyalynn was busy singing the happy birthday song over and over. :) Here's where the twist comes in..... As I was hanging a birthday banner over their kitchen counter the chair I was standing on did a slight twist to the side and I went down...hard!
Holy smokes!  After I was done blubbering like a baby for quite a while (it REALLY hurt!) we headed home. The right side of my body was aching immediately but it wasn't until last night when my left shoulder started hurting too. Well, let me tell you, this morning I feel like I was run over by a Mack truck! Who knew decorating could be so dangerous?! LOL!
So if ya think of me today could you kindly say a  prayer for quick healing? You see, it takes both arms and legs to keep things…
