The Path...

Your word is a lamp unto my feet
and a light for my path.  Psalm 119:105

How many times have you came up against a brick wall in your life and instead of running to God you've rushed straight to your best friend or your spouse or your parent? Ouch!

Why do we do that? I mean if we believe God's word is truth then we can see that He says His word will shine light onto our path. Now, have you ever walked on a path in the pitch darkness of night? Even if it's rather straight and smooth you are still hesitant and take slow steps unsure of where your feet may land. On the other hand, when you are walking at night with a trusty flashlight in your hands you feel as though you can take on the world, or at least, the path.

Sometimes maybe we think we know the path well enough that we don't need a flashlight. We've walked the path numerous times with the flashlight so what's the point of carrying the heavy flashlight along anyways? We'll be fine...that is until we hear something walking in the leaves beside us but can't see what or who it is. Or maybe it's that squishy thing we just felt under our feet and we jump back afraid. Was that a snake?! Without the flashlight we aren't able to see what we stepped on or what is making that weird noise right near us. Now our walk becomes tinged with a bit of fear and a uneasy gnawing in your guts. Our steps are not as sure and are feelings of safety have been challenged considerably. Our pace goes from a simple, leisurely walk to one of hurried steps and a desire to reach our destination quickly.

We could have prevented all of that by just taking the flashlight! How much more simple can it be? Why do I always try to cut corners or make life easier on my own when His blueprint is fail-proof, safer and in the long run much easier?!  Geesh!

Are you on a path that is confusing, scary, dark, painful? Please, don't go it alone. There is a Light available, a Map, a Guide

Don't leave home without HIM
