What is God doing now??

Oh my! I just love how God works in our lives when we allow Him to. We just never know where He will lead us or what He will ask us to do but we always know whatever it is will be good. :)
Trying to listen to His voice and obey. May He be glorified in our lives!

It's the little things....

Last Sunday as we drove to church Connor asked us how a certain song went that we sing in worship. You know when the words are on the tip of your tongue but you just can't get them off? Well that's what we were wrestling with. LOL! Anyhow, I told Connor why don't you pray and ask God to have them sing that song today in worship that way you can remember the words. So he did and when we entered church (we were a bit late) they were singing that exact song!! What a great faith builder for him (and us!).

Nolan Elijah brings so much joy and his designer outfits cause us all to laugh out loud most times. I'm so thankful for this little love bug!!

Seeing the little's all playing a game together nicely always brings happiness to my day.

And little Samuel...enjoying some light reading. LOL! The Portable Pediatrician. Actually, he gives it a 2 thumbs up for taste ability! :)

Death and Living...

This week has afforded me a crisper focus on life and death. Our dear friend lost his younger brother unexpectedly and much too soon, leaving behind a wife and two precious girls. Then two days later, my aunt also met Jesus face to face.

Life is so very short, truly a blink of an eye. For each second, minute and hour I am alive I want to be living, truly living! Not living by the world's standards but living by God's standards. To me, that's all that really matters. Am I being His hands and feet? Am I daily cultivating a relationship with Him that grows deeper and stronger? Am I laying my desires and wants on the altar  and only pursing His call for my life? Do I allow the worlds' opinions and thoughts to cloud my focus and bring me down?

Our life, to many, appears crazy:  "Why would anyone choose to have 5 special needs children?" "You will probably always have one or two to take care of, they won't be able to live on their own." "Don't co…

A Smattering of Cuteness...

Connor and Nolan love to dress up and be superheroes, soldiers or whatever they come up with.

Nolan has recently had some wild outfits. Today, he had on Gabriella's white snow hat, pink hello kitty rubber boots and was carrying around his magnifying glass. LOL! He is ADORABLE no matter what he wears! Here he is wearing his coonskin cap....

Of course couldn't forget about my man! Here he is carrying Samuel on our walk.
And goodness gracious, is this boy the epitome of cute or what?!

10 Point Manifesto for Joyful Parenting

1. Today, I will make our home a house of prayer. I will pray at set times. And I will invite our children to come move into an interior space that lives with God.

2. Today, I will transfigure all things into beauty, and I will refuse to see anything else.

3. Today, I will not have any emergencies. There are no emergencies! Only amateurs hurry.

4. Today, when stress mounts, I pray to dismount it with gratitude. My stress management plan will be intervention with verbal thanks. I can only feel one feeling at a time, and I choose to give thanks at all times. Fight feeling with feeling!

5. Today, I will pray to speak words that are only STRONG words, words that make these children feel strong. Grace words. Grace is the only non-toxic air. All other words I breathe are death words.

6. Today, I will pray to be consistently consistent. I will create safe rhythms that our children can find security in. I will create daily ceremonies because everyday we are CELEBRATING the gift of now!

7. Tod…

True Brotherly Love...

If you've been reading for any amount of time you know that Nolan LOVES his teddy! He carries it with him most of the day or at least it's within reach most of the day. Several times we've had to go on a teddy hunt looking high and low for that darned bear. :) So this picture speaks a thousands words of love. Nolan sharing his teddy bear with baby Sam....true love...brother style!! :)

Emergency Prayer!!

A dear blogging friend has contacted me asking that I put a prayer request here because they know my readers will pray. Please don't let me down, friends! They need serious prayers for their precious little boy!!

Jonathan had surgery several weeks ago and after healing in the hospital for a bit was released. Only home a couple of days he began running a high fever and ended up in the Emergency Room where he was again admitted as a patient. He has been in the hospital almost a week and they still do not know what is causing his discomfort and high fevers. They have taken blood many times, done cultures to find the cause, and have even done abdominal ultrasounds, but at this point, the cause is still elusive. Little Jon is not eating nor drinking and the IV's keep coming out. He is such a trooper and is very brave but being such a little guy it's hard for him to understand what is going on and that the pain (from the blood draws, IV's, etc) is purposeful.  I can't im…

A Perfect Example...

Of what committed love looks like.

It isn't always pretty, nor easy. In fact, most of us married folks will admit that having a good, solid marriage requires effort, communication and hard work!! Here we are quickly heading towards Valentine's Day and the worlds' version of "love" is everywhere. Pink hearts, flowers, chocolate candy, jewelry, etc. But this is not love in the truest sense of the word. Of course, presenting your soul mate with a gift is usually expected and in some circles, the better the gift the more love between you. HA! It is so twisted from what God intended it to look like, be like, live like.

Growing up most little girls learn (through movies) that their prince will come and they will live happily ever after. Happily ever after sounds like such a nice concept, but really is it true? Everyone of us will face trial, tribulation and hardship in our marriages. None of us want to but we all will. We can choose to be happy and joyful amidst the s…

What Does He Think?

More snow predicted and in fact has already been steadily coming down for awhile here.  So, what does he think about it???

Can you guess?? LOL!!

Prayers....

There is so many in need just in my little neck of the woods. Sometimes it overwhelms me and sucks the life out of me. Sometimes I feel like I should do more, be more. Sometimes prayer doesn't seem like "enough". Most of the time, that's all I can offer...and ya know, it may seem little or not enough but in the scheme of things it is the best I can give. It is life-giving, heart-knitting, and so very, very powerful. Prayer has changed perspectives. Prayer has changed circumstances. Prayer has changed dictators. Prayer has changed democracies. But most of all and most important, prayer has changed hearts....mine and those I am praying for!!

So, will you pray with me today??
My heart is extremely heavy for all the soldiers in harm's way day in and day out. This has been brought even closer this weekend as we learned that Zachary, our oldest sons', close friend, serving in Afghanist*n, has had 3 very close calls with death in the past couple of weeks. So close in…

Peace, Sweet Peace...

Priorities and Passion...

"1.75 billion people are desperately poor, 1 billion are hungry, millions are trafficked in slavery, and pandemic diseases are gouging entire nations. Each year nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade. And in the 5 minutes it took you to read this, almost ninety children died of preventable diseases. More than half of all Africans do not have access to modern health facilities. As a result, 10 million of them die each year from diarrhea, acute respiratory illness, malaria, and measles. Many of those deaths could be prevented by one shot. Yet in the midst of the wreckage, here we stand, the modern-day version of the Jerusalem church. Ours is the wealthiest generation of Christians ever. A mere 2 percent of the world's grain harvest would be enough, if shared, to erase the problems of hunger and malnutrition around the world. We have enough food to feed the hungry. And we have enough bedrooms to house the orphans. Here's the math. There are …
