Soaking in His goodness...

Don't Forget....

Don't forget...Memorial Day is not just a day off....a long weekend....it's so much more. It's a holiday that celebrates freedom....remembers those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for America! Please don't forget. Take a moment to say a prayer for those serving, those waiting behind, those who've been lost, and those yet to go.

Gettysburg....

For the close of our school year we had a field trip to Gettysburg Battlefield. We have an audio tape tour that was purchased years ago when Zack and Ryan were small and so we listened to that as we followed the signs. We stopped off at some key areas (per the children LOL!) two of the towers and at Spangler's Spring area to climb the rocks. It was extremely windy and cool that day and on top of the tower it was really bad! The first tower was rather small (compared to the others) and didn't make me nervous at all but the second tower (see picture at bottom) was very, very high! Not a big deal but when I have little Samuel wanting to climb the steps himself and 4 other adventurous ones nearing the top without me I'll admit I panicked. :) They all listened well though and I think the other tourists were quite entertained by this mom of many small children on top of a very tall tower being anxious and coaching her little ones to "settle down" and "not to get t…

Kitchen Help...

I was working on making homemade pot pie noodles when a small child needed my help in the other room. This is what  I found after leaving the kitchen for just a minute.  Seriously, this mess was created in less than 60 seconds! LOL!

UH-OH! I've been spotted.....

Quick, I'd better make my escape....

Um, hi momma. Aren't I handsome?!  Don't you love my help in the kitchen?!

Minutes later..... After I removed his flour encrusted pants, cleaned the counters, the floor, the stool, etc. I had taken the pants to the laundry and I returned to Samuel measuring water in the sink! I think this boy has cooking in his blood!!  Either that or demolition....:)

Mother's Day....

Wonderful, wonderful day!  Beautiful weather, homemade cards, food with the family,  gifts and love abounding!  I am so blessed!
Saturday we got to spend a few hours with Sean's parents which is something that always blesses my socks off!! So I count that as part of my Mother's Day gifts too! :)
We gathered for a picnic lunch here at home because we knew Ryan might call and I did NOT want to miss that! LOL!  Zachary and Ericka blessed me with my first running outfit! It is adorable! I'm a color person and Ericka did great picking these out. They also brought chocolate chip cookie cake....YUM!! My parents were here too and we enjoyed food and fellowship. After everyone left I donned my new running shoes and running outfit and ran 2 miles. Had to work off all that yummy food! :)  My brother came over in the evening and then Arielle, Ryan's girlfriend, surprised me with flowers, a beautiful card and Butterfinger Bites! See why I have to run so much?! LOL! We spent the ev…

BEST Mother's Day E.V.E.R....

Got a call from our boy.  First time I've heard his voice in 4 1/2 weeks!  It sure was wonderful!  We are all counting down the days until we can see him graduate.  So, so excited!!  He also had purchased me a mother's day gift before he left and had Zachary and Ericka hold it for me.  Awww...so sweet!  He said he sent me a Mother's Day letter that said everything because he didn't want to tell me over the phone and hear me crying. LOL!  He knows his momma so well....a bucket 'o tears, that's me. :) This morning I received a text wishing me a happy mother's day  and saying he missed me and loved me.  I assumed it was from Ryan since it was an odd area code.  I was a mess of happy tears and then Mr. Logical (Zachary) said mom are you sure that was from him? Maybe it was a wrong number.  I quick ran to the computer and g**gled it and he's right, it was a Texas # so guess it was a mistake BUT it sure did make my heart happy when I got it. :) However, hear…

The Favorite Part of My Job....:)

The Hands that Molded Me....

I've saved the BEST for last....LOL! This is my precious mom. Isn't she beautiful?! My mom and I are best friends and never run out of things to talk about. Just ask Sean he can't believe we have that many words. LOL! When I am at my wit's end she is who I call and without fail she reminds me "God is in control, lean on Him hard and He won't fail". She has been a spiritual rock for me as I've seen her weather many tough storms and come through clinging tightly to Him. I can still remember the songs she sang to me when I was a small child and she still sings all the time. Her joy is real because it comes from the only source of real joy...not money...not things...but Jesus!!   She is such a blessing to so many and I am forever grateful to call her My Mom! I love you mom! !XOXOXOXOXOXXOXOXOXO

The other wonderful woman who has molded my life is my mother in love, Paula. She blesses me every single day because of the wonderful man she raised! She is a strong…

Moms with Special Gifts...

“Why Them, Lord?” by Erma Bombeck.

Most women become mothers by accident, some by choice, others due to social pressures and a couple by habit.

This year, nearly 100,000 women will become mothers of handicapped children. Did you ever wonder how mothers of handicapped children were chosen?

Somehow I visualize God, hovering over earth, selecting His instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As He observes, He instructs His angels to make notes in a giant ledger:

Armstrong, Beth, son, patron saint, Matthew.
Forrest, Marjorie, daughter, patron saint, Cecilia.
Rutledge, Carrie, twins, patron saint, give her Gerard. He’s used to profanity.

Finally, he passes a name to an angel; Fay Chan * and smiles. Give her a handicapped child.

The angel is curious. Why this one God? She is so happy.

“Exactly,” smiles God. How could I give a handicapped child a mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel.

“But has she patience?” asks the angel.

“I don’t want her to have too much patien…

A Mom that Encourages Creativity....

Ginny, a mom of 6 has such a way with encouraging her children to create and the messes don't make her scream. LOL! She has such a gentle way of writing and her photography beckons you in. They live life on a simpler scale but yet to me, it speaks of grandeur and closeness that we all desire. They recently acquired bees and her posts are so informative you feel like you are right there alongside as they guide the bees into their new home.  She's also very creative making many dresses, scarves, and other items for her family.  You will enjoy a visit to her quiet abode, I'm certain of it.

A Mom that Inspires....

A Mothers Love
There are times when only a Mother's love  Can understand our tears,  Can soothe our disappoints  And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a Mother's love  Can share the joy we feel  When something we've dreamed about  Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a Mother's faith  Can help us on life's way  And inspire in us the confidence  We need from day to day.
For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith  And a Mother's steadfast love  Were fashioned by the Angels  And sent from God above.

I've read Erin's blog for many years, following along as she brought each new addition home. I've learned about Ethiopia through her posts in-country, about HIV, and about  life in a large family. About 3 years ago she decided to change her life, lost weight and began running.  Since then she has competed in many marathons, including the Boston Marathon just a couple weeks ago. She currently is working towards the 2016 …

Moms with Spirit....

The Blogosphere has been such a blessing to me through the years. It's been a source of encouragement and information as I've found others walking similar paths as me. Over the years I have been blessed to become friends with these two precious mommas who have prayed for me and girded me on through some very rough times in my life.
Jill is a mom to 9 children, 7 of which were adopted. She came to know Christ just a few short years ago but her posts are always filled with wisdom that only comes from pressing in to hear His voice. I can't tell you how many times God has used her words to convict, encourage and equip me for my calling as a mom. Jill is a very talented woman who is well versed in health and natural eating and photography too! Jump on over and soak in some Truth today!!
My dear friend Tereasa is an amazing woman! She has been through some very dark times but she clings to God and He is always faithful to deliver her. I love her heart! Such a tender soul attuned…

I'd Like to Introduce You to....

In honor of upcoming Mother's Day I thought it would be fun to introduce you to some of my favorite mother's. So this next week, each post will be focusing on a mom (or two!) who have inspired me to be better. Although our lives are very different we all hold one very important likeness....we LOVE being moms!!

Do You Need Reminded??
