That Elephant...

As we prepare for the New Year I've been spending alot of time meditating on the past year (of course) and looking forward eagerly to what lies ahead. I always ask God for a word of focus for the New Year and an anchor verse to go with it. He never fails to provide and I love that what *I* think it should be and what *He* wants it to be are so different. LOL!

Today in service our pastor was teaching on Hebrews 12:1-3.

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Such great verses to meditate upon as we look to a fresh start! He was t…

Such A Good Word...

I am your Refuge and Strength, an ever-present Help in trouble. Therefore, you don't need to be afraid of anything -  not even cataclysmic circumstances. The media are increasingly devoted to fear-inducing subject matter: terrorism, serial killers, environmental catastrophes.  If you focus on such dangers and forget that I am your Refuge in all circumstances, you will become increasingly fearful. Every day I manifest My grace in countless places and situations, but the media take no notice. I shower not only blessings but also outright miracles on your planet.       As you grow closer to Me, I open your eyes to see more and more of My Presence all around you. Things that most people hardly notice, like shifting shades of sunlight, fill you with heart-bursting Joy. You have eyes that see and ears that hear, so proclaim My abiding Presence in the world. {Psalm 46:1-3; Psalm 89:15} ~Sarah Young, Jesus Calling ~

It's the most wonderful time of the year....

Kids loaded up with cookies and hot chocolate ready for our annual drive to check out the Christmas lights in their pjs.  Sam was so cute! When he saw lights he would ooh and aah along with everyone. :) I'm telling ya, this boy might not have words yet but he sure talks/communicates very well!

Christmas morn waiting for the ok to come downstairs. Don't they look so excited?!
Hope your Christmas was wonderful and full of HIM!!

Heartbroken...

I can't even imagine the horror, pain and questions swirling in the minds of the parents and families that have just lost their precious loved ones in the school shooting in CT.  To see that headline pop up on my news feed caused my stomach to clench and tears to course down my cheeks. Such madness! Such tragedy! Why?! WHY?! Life is so un-valued these days........

I talked with my children at lunch about what happened and then we all prayed. They were quick to thank me for homeschooling them, which I appreciate but school shouldn't be a place where you take your life in your hands just walking through the front doors. People this is what we've become because we've allowed our foundation (GOD!) to be stripped away. The morals and values this country was founded on are fading away and that's where we Christians MUST take a stand! Does your life shout I LOVE JESUS AND THAT'S WHY I'M DIFFERENT?!  Do you choose to stand for truth even when your job, your friendsh…

The Joy of giving...

So worth your 10 minutes today....

What in the world?!

During homeschooling life gets pretty chaotic around here. I have 3 children that need help with mostly everything we do and then 2 smaller children that are into everything else. LOL! It's not unusual for me to walk upstairs to ALL the legos strewn from one end of the house to the other. So I've removed the legos but trust me, these little boys are ALL BOYS and find something to get into. :) Anyhow, today they were watching road construction videos at my computer which is in the room right next to our homeschooling room. Things were going along fairly well and Kyalynn had finished her work and headed outside. I saw her run past the windows without a jacket on and was going to go after her when she came in on her own to get her jacket on saying "brr, it's cold outside". (Just love, love, love my girl!) I happened to notice the boys weren't at my computer and went to the door and looked out and this is what I saw.....

Deck the halls...

I have always been a cut-your-own-tree kind of girl and with the fact that we live on a mountain surrounded by trees it's always been a no-brainer. However,  I finally broke down and gave in and we bought a fake tree a couple years back. :( It's sooo much easier for me. No needing to water or clean up the thousands of needles (mountain trees lose their needles FAST!) and with little children always touching, pulling, yanking, etc. on the tree we had several real trees fall over....lots of  times. What a mess! So....a fake tree it is. LOL! The nice part about it is I pull it out, set it up and the kids do the rest! Yee-Haw!

A job well done!

What?  You don't have a construction-crazed little boy driving his dump truck in your kitchen giving the Christmas decorations rides?? :)

Oh those two?  They're his helpers.....LOL!

Grinch Party...

Most of you know that we do alot of fun, low cost, high memory-making things around here, especially during the Christmas season. We added a new one this year....A Grinch Party! :)  Now I know that the ole' Grinch is a meanie and all but the whole point of the story is that he realizes that there's more to Christmas than presents.   "And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so? It came without ribbons! It came without tags! "It came without packages, boxes or bags!" And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. "Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
And what happened then...? Well...in Who-ville they say That the Grinch's small heart  Grew three sizes that day! "
